The Wheelchair Lift Safety Interlock – 11 is a crucial safety device for mobility-accessible vehicles. It ensures the lift cannot be operated unless all safety conditions are met, such as vehicle-in-park and doors-open. This protects passengers and prevents damage due to improper lift use. The system simplifies compliance with FMVSS and ADA safety standards while reducing wiring complexity for installers. A must-have for paratransit fleets and mobility upfitters.
This system gathers the chassis conditions directly from the vehicle to enable/disable the interlock. When the ignition is ON with the vehicle in Park and the Park Brake Set, then the lift will be enabled if the Lift Door is open. When the Ignition is OFF, the vehicle is in Park with Park brake set, and the Lift Door is opened, then the lift will be enabled for 10 minutes. If after the time expires and the lift door is still opened and the lift is deployed, simply wake up the vehicle by opening another door (or any other interaction with the vehicle chassis).
